I.PURPOSE

To showcase the findings of the newly received Henan Aoriek New Materials Technology ceramic foam filters in terms of physical dimensions and condition, cell size, labeling and packing, chemical composition and filtration efficiency through industrial trial. Four different sizes/grades were obtained of 10 pieces each of 17” X 30 ppi, 23” X 30 ppi that were tested in the shop floor.

II.Evaluation

1.Cell/Pore Size Measurement

The cell pore/size was measured for each filter type by considering surface pores only. This was done by using a stereo microscope at 7.5X magnification covering minimum 4 areas located 10cm away from the edge.

In terms of cell size, 17” X 30 ppi, 23” X 30 ppi and 26” X 45 ppi filters are acceptable and within EGA criteria limits.

2.Dimensional/Physical Inspection

Physical examination of each size/grade was checked in order to ensure no abnormality can occur during industrial trial. This includes checking the length at both the bottom and top sides and their variations, the crosswise diagonal lengths, CFF thickness, weight, filter condition in terms of flatness/evenness, etc., physical abnormalities and packing condition. Figures 3-5 show as received pictures of 23” X 30 ppi filter as an example.

3.Filtration Efficiency

Following the initial evaluation, all 30ppi filters were subjected to industrial trial in the shop floor. A Porous Disc Filtration Apparatus (PoDFA) was used to check the inclusion removal efficiency of the provided filters. Theresults were acceptable and the efficiency was found to be higher than 45%.

II.Summary

Four different sizes/grades from Henan Aoriek New Materials Technology were received with 10 pieces each of 17” X 30 ppi, 23” X 30 ppi

The cell size is acceptable for 17” X 30 ppi, 23” X 30 ppi and 26” X 45 ppi filters.

Dimensional measurements and overall physical condition are satisfactory for 30 ppi filters.

To investigate consistency in concavity, two samples of the 23” X 30 ppi filters were examined and had gaps of 3mm and 1mm respectively.

The inclusion removal efficiency is acceptable for 17” X 30 ppi and 23” X 30 ppi filters.
